The problem
At the Faculty of Computing and Informatics (FCI), Multimedia University, students and faculty staff needed one place for notices, questions and quick feedback, on the phones students already carry.
What I built
My final-year project: two Android apps built from one codebase, one for students and one for faculty staff.
- Direct chat between each student and the faculty admin
- Announcements that staff can post and edit, sent straight to students’ phones
- Surveys that staff create and students answer in the app
- Campus map, sign-up and sign-in
The back end runs on Firebase. Messages are stored in the Realtime Database, and a Cloud Function watches for new messages and sends a push notification to the right person through Firebase Cloud Messaging.
What it shows
Real-time features, push notifications and a serverless back end, built and shipped as two separate apps for two kinds of users.
